As winter has finally started to give way to spring and summer is just around the corner, I thought it would a good time to look at the color and pattern trends we will be seeing in the next four months.
According to the color authority Pantone, the upcoming season will see calming, warm shades of blue, pink/peach, buttercup yellow and green with an emphasis on colors found in nature. Think maritime blues and apple green. There are also the pale colors in the bunch like Pantone’s Color of the Year “rose quartz” and a sky blue called “serenity.” You will need to look no further than the shade of your afternoon latte for the neutral beige tone that anchors this spring and summer’s natural palette.
If the colors are more muted and natural this season the patterns are anything but. Stripes are always popular during the summer but this season stripes have made an early entrance and expect to see them everywhere. Bold vintage lace and floral patterns will also be a staple in the upcoming months.
In clothing expect to see graphic striped dresses along with very feminine slip style dresses in the more delicate shades of rose and light blue.
Chunkier heels and mule style shoes are also trending along with structured handbags, backpacks, gold jewelry and long earrings.
Overall I am pleased with the trending colors and patterns because the options are varied enough that everyone can find something that flatters their skin tone and be able to add something fun with a pop of color or pattern to their spring/summer wardrobe. Enjoy the warmer weather and new styles it brings!
